15 Things Some Folks May Not Like about Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)

If you see one movie with a cat wearing human clothes, check out this thing my cousin did with his ginger baby Flopsy with a little fedora saying "m'eow."* So cute. If you have about two hours to kill, you can also check out Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, a great little movie about the Spaniard cat from the Shrek movies having an existential crisis and searching for a wish with another cat and a dog. Damn fine animation with a textured style like a fairy book tapestry way above what a lot of studios are up to, barring Spider-verse. Well written and a good plot, too, but on occasion things happened that some folks may not like. Here they are:

  1. Multiple deaths including drinking and shellfish allergies

  2. Violence, including sword fighting, fingernail stabbing, and stick poking

  3. Cat lady stereotype

  4. Institutionalization through spray bottle

  5. Scat play, including litter box and sewer escape

  6. Torture through piano

  7. Murder by gold

  8. Use of Wicked Witch quotes

  9. Discussion of puppy torture and murder

  10. Weaponization of a unicorn horn

  11. Censoring some bullshit language

  12. Scary imagery including death wolf

  13. Use of The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

  14. Making me cry

  15. Setting up a new Shrek movie

*Like he's saying 'm'lady."
